Immanuel Aritonang, my firstborn, my handsome son
At long last I have a son.
My beautiful wife Lola gave birth to my firstborn on the night of April 13th, 2009 in St Elisabeth.
I have waited for a son for God knows how long. At this moment, time after time I can only smile at their lovely faces and wonder what have I done so right to deserve such a blessings.
Blessings do come in floods of happiness -that is what the Holy Bible tells us.
Now and forever, nobody can say any less than Abba Immanu'el to address myself, while Mama Immanuel to address my wife Lola.
Immanuel was born 4.2kg and with length of 52 centimeters.
Yes, Lola delivered him on caesarean section in St Elisabeth. Nobody can deliver such a big baby normally under the circumstances.
Little that we know about Immanuel problem arriving in this world. For we always check with dr. Zuherdy but found no problem prior to the last check.
Initially we were scheduled to have the birth on 23 February 2009 but after 2 weeks of induced birth nothing happens. Immanuel was not going anywhere, still playing and moving around but no sign of prenatal activities.
So when the time comes for our "2nd overdue obgyn check" the doctor gave 2 choices for us.
1. to go to operating room immediately and undergo Caesarean Section
2. to go to delivery room and induce birth by way of drug injection
Either way Immanuel's placenta has already turn white because of the increase in calcium.
But the clinch here: Immanuel for sure was tangled in his own abdominal cord. If Lola and I chose to induce his birth by drug injection, Immanuel would have been strangled to death on the delivery room.
But Lola my beautiful and daring wife, cried her heart out for 2 minutes and then bravely choose the Caesarean Section. Sitting beside her I was dumbfounded and tears welled up in my eyes.
We are not mentally prepared for this, absolutely not. People take 1 whole week to mentally prepare for any operation and on the last night before any operation people always 'fast' in order to remove gastric effect post operation.
But no, Lola bravely went back to the reception desk to check in for immediate operation and walked with me to the Emergency room in order to have the IV inserted into her vein.
Wincing from the pain, she was wheeled into the delivery room to prepare her for the Caesarean. Clothes bundled into her bags and all forms filled up, she was then given initial sedation there.
I said our prayers with Lola and Immanuel and then ask our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ to have His will in this instance of our lives. Ending with the Lord's prayer I said let's get it on to Lola on the wheeled bed. It was 2100 hours Monday night on 13 April.
21.15 hours, dr. Zuherdy walked by and smiled to our stressed faces, sitting on the floor of that hospital. With me was my brother Edward and both my mother Ria and my mother in law Risma. All silenced and feel daunted. All our hearts in our mouth. Nobody in their right mind was up to this, we were coming in for check up and instead prolonged into the night waiting outside the operating room.
Come 21.45 an empty baby box was wheeled into the operating room. Sure enough, we run up and find a beautiful and big baby boy was there sleeping. "This is Mrs. Lola's baby" said the nurse. "You got that right, sister - that is my baby boy there". Ehehehe, Immanuel was fast asleep, exhausted after the operation. Cleaned up afterwards we could not believe how handsome he is, there in the baby room. Big boy, 4.2 kilos and 52 cm, shouting at the top of his lungs ordering the nurse to bring him his milk on the double.
Meanwhile Lola was in the operating room for another 2 hours and it was 23oo hours when we received her outside the operating room, still heavily under anaesthetics and thus accompany her regaining consciousness in the ward. Not long, by 0200 she drowsily was asking me where Immanuel is sleeping to which I answered there in the next room but he shall be with us in the morning. Ah, she hold my hands, smiled her beautiful smile and said "I am so happy, we have a success and Immanuel is here with us, I am not going to sleep my husbang because I am so happy"
Now, 15 May 2009 Immanuel has passed his 1 month and he is learning to adjust his vision and enhance his hearing ability. Lola and I are so proud of our Immanuel. Such a handsome boy, such a genius, such a strong leader.
Hallelujah to the Lamb of God. Jesus Christ has answered our humble prayers.
Amen, amen and amen

Gospel of St. Matthew 28:18-20
“Then Jesus came to them and said, “ All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of age”

Near Miss and Accident on Bekasi - Purwakarta
Ricardo Aritonang
14 February 2008
Shalom Aleyhem
Driving alone on Cikampek toll road has its ups and downs. Danger is always lurking when you are not driving carefully. I am writing about my high speed puncture and running over a motorcyclist during a couple of those trips not long ago.
High Speed Puncture
I work in Purwakarta and every Monday morning travels from my home in Kemang Pratama Bekasi to my office at Purwakarta. My wife has repeatedly told me not to use the left emergency lane to pass. But that morning I was going around 155 kph on that left lane and was traveling at Karawang Barat.
The time was around 0615 when I heard a loud thud from the back of my car. I struggled to control the car and was lucky enough to evade traffic and safely made a stop.
It took me about 15 minutes to change the tire and by the time I arrived at the office the time was 0715. In fact I was not late at all.
Deep down inside I whined about the broken tire, about its going to cost me dearly.
For my speed was so high, the tire was ripped and cannot be used anymore. That is two tires along with the one I ripped on high speed at Halim Perdanakusumah tool road heading into Jakarta on a Sunday morning in November.
Two days later I ask for permission to go to Raj Motor at Purwakarta to change my tire. The cost of a new tire for the car is Rp492.000 and I whined all along. Little that I know the Holy Spirit has saved me from a catastrophe that morning. If the Holy Spirit did nothing, it’s not hard to imagine the car swerving out of control and rolling around.
But no, I kept whining about the whole thing and worst thing came along after that puncture.
Accident
Two days after my puncture, I was driving back to Purwakarta on a Wednesday evening. I was speeding again and for sure no car overtook me on that toll road.
Thinking that on work days, by quitting time the Bekasi Barat exit toll booth shall be jammed packed, I took an early exit at Bekasi Timur.
Even after the tool booth, I was still overtaking other cars and was driving along Jl Chairil Anwar near the Kali Malang river. Seeing that the Cut Meutia intersection was packed with traffic I took an early left turn at the river bridge near DPRD house to get to Cut Meutia through Unisma canal road.
Alas, when taking the right turn after the bridge to the canal road, I forgot to turn my sign and ran over motorcyclist. I was so annoyed with myself and tried to run away.
The motorcyclist chased me and mobbed me in the middle of the canal road, not far away from where the accident took place. They blocked my car from running away.
They shout around saying lets kill this bastard for trying to kill one of our friend and then run away. Shouts to burn the car were also heard.
At least I was fast to apologize to the Javanese guy. He was hurt from the impact and when trying to evade my car his motorcycle became entangled under the car and was eventually run over.
He demanded Rp700.000 for damages to his motorcycle which was bent at the steer and for his foot injuries. I said that I did not have any money with me at that moment and invited for him to go with me to the nearest clinic.
He refused and demanded that I pay him the Rp700.000 instead. Then after some negotiation I left him my ID card and he tailed me to Kemang Pratama to finish our negotiation.
Seeing that ID are easy to come by for maybe Rp15.000, when we were traveling to Kemang Pratama I tried to loose the guy at Cut Meutia, Rawa Panjang. And when that failed took the Kemang Pratama 3 entrance where the security always ask for credentials and gave us security card.
Unfortunately the guy was a local ojek and therefore the stupid security guys did not even bat an eyelid when he tailed me into Kemang Pratama 3.
There and then, I phoned Dedek my wife telling her about the whole incident so that she would be ready to back me up upon arriving at the house.
Sure enough, she was at the front gate and opened the gate with suspicious eyes at the Javanese motorcyclist who followed me home all the way.
After a short negotiation Dedek gave the guy an extra Rp100.000 before he left us alone.
During dinnertime I did not say very much. Still wondering and whining about the Rp492.000 to buy a new tire and the Rp150.000 to take care of the broken motorcycle and its injured rider.
Dedek gave her thoughts and I remembered clearly that she said Rp492.000 and Rp150.00 are nothing compared to Abang’s safety.
We should say our Thanks to the Great Lord and Redeemer Jesus Christ that Abang is still safe and the car has no damage whatsoever. Considering the danger in high speed puncture and running over a motorcycle we should have express our gratitude to God and rejoice because of the protection God gave use then.
I agree. Furthermore, I also forgot to put my Bible and Buku Ende inside the car for good luck. Dedek ask me about the relevancy of the Bible and Buku Ende for the car’s safety.
Last, I replied –wherever the word of God is written such as my favorite passage in John 1:1
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”
‘then we are safe and the Holy Spirit shall accompany us wherever we go.
